Conference Dinner


The conference dinner will take place on July 23, 2025, 7-10 pm, at Federation (Fed) Hall on the University of Waterloo campus. Dinner tickets can be purchased during the registration process.

MSAM Lab Tour


A tour of the University of Waterloo's Multi-Scale Additive Manufacturing (MSAM) Lab is scheduled for July 22, from 5-6 pm, and on July 24, from 3:30-4:30 pm. The tour is free, but registration is required. Those interested in participating can sign up during the conference registration process.

Traveling to Waterloo

The closest major airport to Waterloo, ON is Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Direct flights are also available from several Canadian cities to the Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF).

The drive from the Pearson Airport to the University of Waterloo campus takes approximately one hour, depending on traffic and the time of day. Transportation options between Pearson Airport and Waterloo include Airways Transit, Go Transit, Waterloo Taxi, and others. Trips can be pre-booked through each provider’s website. Please visit their sites for detailed fare information and booking policies. Additionally, various car rental service providers operate at Pearson Airport. Campus Map and Parking

To view a map of the University of Waterloo campus and available parking spaces, visit this webpage. Visitor parking lots are marked in orange, with Lots Q and B (marked visitor spots at E6) being the closest to E7. Refer to on-site signage for visitor parking locations and hours, or visit this page for additional details.

Visitor parking is available through payment via the AMP mobile pay app. Permits are valid exclusively for the designated lot of purchase and cannot be used elsewhere on campus. Most visitor parking lots charge a flat daily rate of $7. Parking without payment will result in a ticket.

Free parking is also available at Lot E on Seagram Drive, though spaces are limited and often fill up by 9 am. Lot E is approximately a 15-minute walk from the E7 building.

Visa and Invitation Letter

International attendees may need to obtain a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) before traveling to Canada. Use the visa requirement tool on the Government of Canada’s website to check if you need a TRV to travel to Canada.

If you require an invitation letter from the HI-AM Conference to support your visa application, please contact us at hiam@uwaterloo.ca  and provide the following information:

  • Mailing address (optional)
  • Email address
  • Nationality
  • Passport number and expiration date (optional)
  • Proof of registration

Invitations will be issued by the University of Waterloo, and in accordance with the university’s guidelines, will only be provided to participants who have completed their registration and paid all applicable fees.
